The status window freezes but the log keeps growing

I left the FR5 monitoring laptop showing a long inspection recording and came back to a frozen graph, which looked fairly terminal until I opened the log and found newer entries. Closing the folder preview made the window wake up, though perhaps that was coincidence. Is there a cheap way to tell whether the display is waiting for the disk or just struggling to draw all that history?
