I am reviewing old records before our FR10 gusseted-bracket welding project inherits a correction routine. The fabricated mounting bracket looks aligned under restraint, then misses the drawing after release. How should I separate fit-up, fixture location and final inspection? This is a records enquiry, not live welding adjustment.
Find what aligned actually meant in those notes. Gauge drawing, datum references, restraint state. Without that, the held check may not describe the same dimensions as final inspection.
Are individual brackets linked between the held observation, released measurement and correction record? That link determines which comparisons the history can support.
The notes describe the sequence, but I cannot link each held observation to an individual released result. I have requested the measurement and correction sheets rather than filling that gap from the final pass.
Also ask how incoming components were checked and located. Otherwise all the difference after release gets blamed on welding before you know what entered the fixture.
Would the current study need to proceed if the old sheets cannot be recovered? It may help to decide that separately from the historical reconstruction.
Yes. The team needs a current comparison even if those records remain missing. We are defining incoming checks, fixture references and released measurements for identified brackets. No welding parameters or correction method have been approved through this review.
Have the welding and measurement specialists review that scope together. A tidy result sheet still won't help if they mean different things by released condition.
