our fr10 fixture sketch leaves no believable way back out

I've asked for the complete tool and open door this time, but the supplier keeps returning a drawing of the polymer blank at its destination. We're considering a small machining exercise for the college. I can't justify paying for adapter manufacture while the withdrawal is still a blank space.

Have you measured the open door and the proposed tool yourselves? A side view with the bulky bits drawn at their actual size could tell you whether this candidate deserves a more detailed assessment. No need to buy an adapter to discover it occupies the door handle.

We nearly missed the fixture change in a loading proposal. The production sketch looked fine because it showed the fixture already installed. Our setter then brought over the lifting arrangement and there was nowhere for it to go. Include whoever changes your fixture before people become attached to the robot position. You can lose the access you need once per lesson just as easily as the access you need once per shift.

Rebecca, our technician has measured both. The returned full-tool view now overlaps the handle during withdrawal. Nina, fixture removal also uses the front opening; we have added the lifting arrangement to the same view rather than assuming it can come out sideways.

Could the robot be moved for fixture changes, or would that create another setup to verify?

It would need to be a designed changeover arrangement, Ada. Moving it out of the way is not a free extra capability.

Where would it stand while the fixture comes out?

Price the lesson you actually need. If machine loading is only one exercise, a separate bench fixture may deliver most of the teaching without reorganising a machining area.

Nadia, that might work, but the door and access restrictions could be exactly what Isabel wants students to learn. A bench isn't automatically the same exercise with less expense.

Nina, yes, the enclosed-machine constraints are part of it. Nadia's alternative is still worth comparing. Hazel, there is no allocated parking space for a movable base, and we cannot borrow the neighbouring work bay during lessons.

You can teach the rejected layout too. Let students compare the bare-blank sketch with the complete tool before showing why you declined it. That doesn't require you to purchase a machine-tending system to demonstrate the mistake.

That's the version I meant, Rebecca. We kept a poor handling proposal as a training example after cancelling the purchase. People remembered the missing preparation work better than the successful supplier clip. Still cost us staff time to turn it into a useful exercise.

The integrator has compared the original position and a shifted front position within our allocated area. The first fails withdrawal; the second occupies the fixture-removal space. Neither is being offered as a workable layout. That makes the decision less abstract.

Would changing the allocated area be affordable, or is that outside this teaching budget?

Outside it. Facilities priced moving the neighbouring bench and its services, and the department has declined that cost. We have cancelled this machine-loading purchase proposal; that's a decision about our room and lesson budget, not a claim that the FR10 cannot load such a fixture.

Will you keep the rejected views for the students?

Yes. The technician helped me make an overlay of the blank, complete tool and removal space. Thanks Rebecca and Nina; it now shows a mistake the students can actually find, rather than a slide saying remember access.
