Is our load comparison missing most of the assembly?

I'm comparing two tooling proposals for our planned moving rigid components into assembly fixtures with Universal Robots UR5e and a steel gearbox housing in a machined-parts transfer cell. Each supplier bases suitability on the part's mass, although the assembly also has extended fingers, an adapter and hose fittings. I'd like to know what information a purchase decision needs.

@RaviChen1172 Check whether either supplier has provided the assembled mass and centre of gravity. A list of everything mounted at the wrist will expose what's missing.

Neither does. I've got separate gripper and adapter drawings, but no combined load sheet. The fittings aren't listed at all.

Give each supplier an identical list and request the complete mass and centre of gravity relative to a named origin. You'll then have a usable comparison basis.

When you say origin, do you mean the reference point for their measurements? I can see how that could get overlooked

Yes, with the axes identified too. Otherwise an offset number can look precise while describing a different point on the assembly.

@AnilBell0636 Usable for comparison, maybe. Mass and centre of gravity still aren't a complete suitability assessment; the inertia and moment constraints matter too

Agreed, I meant the comparison basis. Your integrator still needs the complete load assessed against the applicable documentation, including moment and inertia constraints.

@AnilBell0636 I know what's missing from the quotes, but I still can't judge the complete load. I'm keeping the tooling choice open until the assembly information can support an assessment.

That fits the gap. Knowing what's missing helps, but your tooling choice still needs an assessable complete assembly.
