I can't approve this copied bracket correction

Our UR5e welding proposal inherits an old fixture with a 'correct before finish' note. The records say the bracket lines up under the clamps, then misses the drawing once released. I can't approve copying that adjustment when nobody can explain what it corrected. We've got retained parts and old inspection sheets. I'd like to get quality and tooling looking at the same evidence before this becomes a new fixture by habit

Start with the part revisions on those retained samples. I have just seen a gusset change get lost because everyone followed the finished assembly number. Do yours actually match the proposed bracket?

Some do. Two are an older gusset. We've split those out, thanks. The old inspection sheets aren't nearly as well labelled as the parts

Then don't merge the old numbers yet. Get the current samples measured from the drawing first.

What does correct mean on the old job? If someone physically adjusted the bracket after welding, the final sheet may describe the adjusted part rather than what came out of the fixture.

Nobody I've asked knows. The traveller has a correction tick but no before-and-after readings

Toolroom found a separate checking plate in the old kit. We haven't established whether the loose-part height was measured on it or directly on the table.

Can the old inspector recognise the setup from photos? Cheaper than moving the whole jig around to recreate guesses.

Check the measurement references as well as the support arrangement; a height measured from the fixture base cannot be compared directly with a height measured from the part's underside without understanding the geometry.

The correction tick is a gap in the history. Keep it visible when comparing final measurements; it may conceal a separate operation the new proposal has not included.

Did the inspector recognise the plate?

Yes. Used for fit-up, not final inspection. Final height came from a different setup that quality is now documenting. That removes one false comparison from our meeting

The unexplained correction is staying out of the new requirements. Quality owns released-part acceptance; tooling is defining location from the current drawing. Still waiting on measurements of the traceable current samples.

Post those when you have them. Interested whether the current bracket still has the old problem once everyone measures the same thing.
