Our bracket history changes measuring supports halfway through

I am comparing old bracket inspection notes for an FR5 welding proposal. The early sheets show a restrained assembly against fixture stops; the later ones show a released bracket on a separate inspection support. Both columns are called alignment. There is also a handwritten correction note with no piece identity. I can see why the proposal author drew a simple before-and-after story, but the original paperwork is much less tidy. Which parts of that history are worth retaining when we define the new acceptance check?

Retain it all. First ask whether those two alignment columns check the same drawing requirement.

The early column checks contact at the fixture stops. The later one gives the released upright angle. So I should not have treated alignment as one measurement.

Right. Different checks. Released movement may still exist, but those columns do not measure its amount.

Does the later support match the drawing's intended measurement setup? I'd check that before using those angle values as the baseline for a new fixture.

And who decided when correction was needed? That affects the handover as much as the angle.

Amy, the support has no reference in the folder. Anika, the correction decision is not described either. I have more gaps than I expected.

Better to find them now. Is the old support still around for quality to identify, or only in a photograph?

Try the tool store before assuming it's gone. Old inspection supports have a habit of being kept under the last operator's description rather than the part number anyone searches for.

Isaac, would you trust a familiar-looking support without a marking?

No, I'd ask quality to identify it. Finding an object and knowing what it was approved to check are different jobs; stores can help with the first without inventing the second.

Stores found a likely support, but quality has not identified it yet. Thank you Isaac for the search suggestion. I have left the old results in the history and removed the direct before-and-after comparison from my summary.

Keep that unidentified correction note visible too. Even without a usable measurement, it tells the process reviewer there was extra work to ask about.

Ada, which drawing revision will the new released-part check use?
