What should count as dimensional acceptance after welding? (Fairino FR10)

I'm reviewing historical records for our planned reviewing fixtures for welded mounting brackets with Fairino FR10 and a gusseted steel support bracket weldment in a robotic welding project review. The notes describe alignment under restraint but dimensions outside the drawing requirement after release. I'd like to distinguish incoming fit-up, fixture location and final acceptance before carrying an unexplained correction routine into the new cell; no live welding adjustments are involved.

Does the inspection procedure define the released condition and reference supports? Check that alongside whether each old measurement says how the assembly was held.

@ThomasChen1147 My sheets contain both restrained and released results, with some conditions unlabelled. Although the drawing specifies the dimension, the inspection procedure doesn't clearly define the supports.

Have quality and the drawing owner define the acceptance condition. Group the old results by known measurement state; that should make them comparable.

@ThomasChen1147 Same restraint label still doesn't mean comparable. Unknown supports and mixed fixture or process revisions could remain inside those groups.

You're right; I overstated that. Grouping exposes one difference. Keep support conditions, fixture revision and process links visible too, including anything unknown.

Should a fixture revision remain unknown when a colleague remembers a likely version but no record confirms it? We're disagreeing about whether to fill those gaps.

@RaviAli0215 Mark it unknown. You can note the recollection separately as something to investigate, but don't turn a probable revision into a recorded fact.

I had a separate bracket job where inferred fixture revisions created an apparent trend. Once the original sheets established the revisions, the trend no longer held.

Why doesn't matching the required shape in the fixture establish that the assembly meets the dimensional requirement?

@JackAllen0341 Because the required inspection condition may be after release. Holding a shape under restraint doesn't establish the shape the assembly takes without that restraint.

@ThomasChen1147 I've had the drawing owner confirm the released inspection condition and its reference supports. Quality is adding those requirements to the sheet so the measurement state is explicit.

That establishes the intended inspection basis, but the measurement conditions of unlabelled historical results still remain unknown.

@MiaBennett0731 I'll keep those old entries flagged. The new definition helps the review; it doesn't magically repair the old paperwork.

Where sample links exist, pair incoming fit-up observations with the released measurements. That allows the welding engineer to assess associations in the context of the documented process.

I've found varying incoming fit-up in the traceable records for assemblies that changed shape after release. The association is visible, although it doesn't establish causation.

@RaviAli0215 Present that association with the limits of the available records. It can be worth the welding engineer's attention without being described as an established cause.

@ImranBrooks0827 I can describe the measurement uncertainty better, although the cause of released variation remains open. Any fixture change still needs a specialist assessment supported by the inspection basis and traceable records.

@RaviAli0215 That fits the evidence. Clearer measurement uncertainty helps, but it doesn't yet explain the released variation or specify a fixture change.
