What would you ask an overseas robot supplier about the laptop needed for support? I'm researching a purchase, not reporting a fault.
I can ask whether a laptop is included. Less sure how to ask who keeps its software usable, who holds licences and what happens when that person leaves. Small team here. I don't want the only working setup to belong to somebody we can no longer contact.
Who can reconstruct the setup on a replacement laptop, using information and permissions your team will actually receive? That question should expose more than asking whether a computer is included.
Ask what that reconstruction includes. An installer alone doesn't tell the next maintainer which configuration belongs to the cell, or which changes were made during commissioning. I'd put the handover contents in the scope before ordering, with someone local named to receive them.
Would you ask the supplier to do that rebuild, or expect our person to do it? I can buy a handover session. I can't promise we have a controls engineer.
I'd price supplier-led recovery as an option. Not pretending my workshop becomes a controls team because I bought a computer. Would still want our own copy of the agreed records (and someone who knows where they are).
