Make the test require the read and parse its documented response, including failure and missing data.

Changed the fake to retained documented responses. Missing read now fails; failed and incomplete replies cannot produce a current result. Maintainer still checking the installed-version match.

Good. Does a successful response also produce the expected result identity, not just a green screen?
