Yes. Send packed examples from your normal supply, including the seam and surface differences. An empty pristine box is a very cooperative customer. Ask them to show where every cup lands, not just that a box went up.

3分Don't dismiss the empty test completely. It can expose a bad seal cheaply. It just leaves you with the load, carton strength and intended movement still to assess.
18分Our first samples got taped over the damaged bits before dispatch. Someone was being helpful, and accidentally sent the supplier a carton we never handle. Whoever packs yours needs to know why you're sending the awkward ones.

5分That dodging bit worries me too. Our manual packing leaves labels in slightly different places... nothing dramatic, until you draw a cup right where the nicest sample has a blank patch.

12分David, agreed for the loaded assessment. I'm only defending an inexpensive first screen. No point paying for a movement trial if the proposed contact already leaks badly on the actual board.
7分Do not let the sample list become one carton of each colour. Record which has the seam, label or board condition being checked. Otherwise a failure comes back as the blue one failed.
6分Who will deal with a carton the tool cannot pick? Worth asking before the quote grows, especially if one person is meant to cover packing as well.
20分Elena's point cost us more time than changing cups. We had a reject position but nobody assigned to clear it, so packing eventually stopped with a beautifully organised queue of problems.
