Carton looks square but its insert only supports two edges

I'm reviewing our FR10 pallet proposal. The square cartons have an internal support insert along two opposite edges. Rotating alternate layers changes where those edges land, although the drawing looks identical.

Has anyone shown the underside support positions on the layer drawing? A square box model won't reveal that difference. I'd add the actual load paths before asking whether the pattern works

No, the drawing only shows the outer carton. Packaging gave me a cutaway sample and the insert position is now clear. I have asked for that orientation to be marked.

Also show what's directly below each supported edge, including the layer underneath. The top view can hide an edge bridging a gap even when all the outside corners line up

Our carton labels moved between batches. What physically identifies insert orientation before the robot picks?

Good catch. The support direction needs an observable reference in the incoming setup, otherwise a correct plan can still receive a carton turned the wrong way

Do not assume a printed arrow identifies the insert unless packaging confirms it; I mean confirms the packing process preserves that relationship, not just the artwork.

Have packaging and tooling both seen the same revision yet? The tool approach might force an orientation that the updated support drawing doesn't allow

They have. Packaging says the side label is not a reliable insert reference. We need a controlled packing orientation before either team can approve the alternating-layer idea.

That is worth finding now, because our inspection once verified a lovely label position while the heavy contents had been packed the other way round.

The pack supervisor is trialling a visible orientation mark tied to the insert placement. No pallet approval yet. I will return with the result once they have checked actual packed cartons.

Include mispacked samples in that trial too. You need to know whether the check catches a wrong orientation, not only whether correctly prepared boxes look consistent
