I asked for the door and service space on our FR5 machine-tending layout. Got a revised sketch back with both, then noticed the pickup is still a dot on the end of the arm. We're transferring a short steel blank into a fixture. The blank fits through the opening, but the proposed gripper body hasn't been drawn at all.
I don't want another reach screenshot. I want the next review to include the thing we're actually buying and the setter who has to reach past it.
You're right to question the shared fingers. Ask for each complete proposed assembly, with its adapter and the blank held where it would actually sit. A shorter body doesn't necessarily make the whole assembly shorter.
The supplier has assembly sketches for both already. They sent them after I asked specifically, rather than sending me the robot reach page again. The adapters are different.
Sara, yes, we measured that opening with the machine team. Owen, no: both tool sketches show closed fingers. I've asked for the open position and the loaded approach too.
The setter's access should get its own view. In our tooling review the close-up was useful, but you couldn't see where a person would stand to remove the assembly. Different question from whether the robot could put it there.
I've booked the setter into the layout review and kept both candidate assemblies on it. Still waiting for the open-finger drawings. At least the purchase decision is visibly open now, instead of disguised as a dot.
