The DeepMind announcement separates Gemini Robotics from Robotics-ER and talks about trusted testers. I'm interested in the reasoning work, but I can't read this as a download that makes my choice of arm work automatically. For anyone planning an FR5 experiment: what would you want to establish before buying hardware on the strength of this research? https://deepmind.google/blog/gemini-robotics-brings-ai-into-the-physical-world/

March 2025 research announcement, not a retail robot or a claim of FR5 compatibility.

An actual route to running it. Minor detail, apparently.

I still think the demos are exciting. Being interested isn't the same as placing an order.

Agreed, Ben. I'm excited too. My concern is budgeting an integration that hasn't been established, not people enjoying a research video.

Separate the camera experiment from the motion controller. I'd want a proposed interface and failure behaviour on paper before discussing an arm purchase.
