The quote weighed the housing and forgot everything holding it

Two tooling offers for our FR5 housing transfer both quote the workpiece mass as their load check. I've drawn long fingers to reach into the assembly nest, plus an adapter and hose fittings. None appears in their figures. I know those bits aren't weightless, despite procurement's hopes. What should the revised load review include?

Complete held assembly. Tool, adapter, fittings and part. Mass, centre of gravity and relevant inertia data, checked against the manufacturer's applicable load guidance.

Thanks. One offer has a tool mass hidden in the drawing notes but still calls the part-only figure 'total payload'. I'll ask them to reconcile that before comparing the offers.

Include the empty-tool state too. Same job, different load condition. Handover needs to identify which configuration the assessment covers.

How far beyond the wrist are your fingers, and where is the housing held? A total mass alone still leaves the geometry out.

Use the actual drawing dimensions in the supplier review. Nobody here can approve the arrangement from a description of long fingers.

Ask who updates the assessment when those fingers change. Extended fingers tend to acquire another small extension when the first awkward variant arrives. The person replacing them needs to know that the approved configuration has a boundary.

Tool revision and matching setup data on the handover sheet. Otherwise the paperwork describes yesterday's hardware.

I've sent the loaded and empty assemblies with revision numbers. The housing is offset sideways as well as forward, which neither summary showed. Asked both suppliers for their complete assessment and assumptions, not another capacity sentence.

Have them include the intended motion and cable routing effects where relevant. Static geometry is part of the review, not all of it.

Request an explained result you can hand to maintenance. I can't say whether your arrangement is suitable, but a signed-off tool revision with traceable assumptions is much more useful than 'part weighs less than payload'.
