our fr5 tool is complete on paper and owned by nobody

I have asked for the full assembly this time: motor housing, extended fingers, adapter and fittings, with their positions. Both FR5 suppliers still answer with the housing mass. One says the fingers are the tooling company's responsibility; the tooling company says ask the robot supplier. Who is supposed to turn these bits into one assessed proposal before we buy it?

Who contracted to integrate the complete tool? Start with that responsibility, not another mass estimate.

Nobody yet. These are quotations, and each leaves assembly integration outside its own scope. I have asked both to include a named owner and price that work before we compare them again.

That missing scope is the purchase problem, then.

Include which assembly revision that owner will assess, so the fingers eventually ordered and the spare adapter in stores don't belong to a different version of the successful proposal.

One supplier has declined the combined work. The other has revised its offer with an integration engineer responsible for the complete arrangement, including the handling cases and applicable limits. The technical review is included in the offer, not completed yet.

Make sure the integration engineer gets the intended movement and release arrangement too. A complete component list still does not describe how the tool will be used beside the fixture.

Did that engineer find anything missing from your assembly information?

Yes, the hose fittings were listed but their positions were not fixed. Our tooling owner has settled the route and supplied it with the loaded and open-tool arrangements. That was a useful question from the engineer, not another request to repeat the housing weight.

Has the resulting assembly revision reached purchasing as well as the engineer, Yasmin?

It has. The engineer completed the assessment for that revision and the stated handling cases; purchasing selected the revised offer with integration included. The first offer is out. Installation and commissioning still follow, but there is finally an owner for the assembly we are ordering.

Good. Keep that responsibility in the order, not just the helpful email.
