I was preparing a lesson from our proposed FR5 trim-plate inspection and caught myself telling a student the broad pale stripe was damage. Then we turned the same plate slightly and the stripe wandered off. Great teaching moment, for me rather than them.
We haven't commissioned this. I've stopped using that picture as a reject example, but the folder has other photos taken beside the workshop window and I don't trust their labels either; how do I give the vision person something useful without spending another session confidently teaching rubbish?

Who judged those plates physically, Nathan? I'd want that answer before choosing replacement teaching pictures.

9分Our rejected cover had a real scratch beside a moving reflection. Don't throw out a rejected part just because the brightest thing moved.

Beth, quality judged the retained plates but I copied the image labels from a draft; Grace, yes, one caption also calls the ordinary brushed finish scoring, so I've managed two different bad examples.
9分Use the retained plates beside the originals first. Cheap check. I once spent ages trying to understand a lesson picture before someone admitted the part in the box wasn't the one in the slide.
6分Can the vision person reproduce your window-lit photo, or did nobody note which way the plate was held?
20分I'd fix the captions before chasing that exact photograph. You already know one caption describes ordinary finish as damage. No new light required to correct that.

Wendy, there are no pose notes; Nina and Beth, I've asked quality to go through the retained plates with me first, then we'll give vision the matched originals without treating the window photos as a repeatable setup.
4分Take the perfectly ordinary brushed one along too. Easy to show all the ugly examples and forget what should pass.
-2分And leave any doubtful feature undecided until quality settles it. A question mark is better than another confident arrow.
15分We've matched the plates now: the wide stripe belongs to an accepted plate, and the rejected plate has a small edge scratch that barely shows in my chosen photo; thanks, Nora, your example stopped me dropping that one.

20分I've replaced the reject slide with that paired example and removed the scoring caption from the accepted finish; vision is taking these plates into a controlled-light comparison, not inheriting my window arrangement.

Beth, yes, we opened the updated lesson from the shared teaching folder together; Wendy, our fixture person is sorting the presentation with vision, and I haven't seen that arrangement yet.
