How do I prove the second sheet stayed behind?

I've been given a successful vacuum test for our proposed FR10 panel loader. It shows one coated steel panel hanging from the tool. Our supply will be a stack, and nobody seems to have tested picking from it. What should I ask the tooling firm to demonstrate? Holding one sheet is useful, but it doesn't answer whether we'll deliver two. Or whether the unsupported edge will sag into the nest.

Ask for a stack-fed trial with your panel condition represented. The single-sheet result establishes only that test case.

They've offered a video with three clean panels. Ours arrive with a light residue between sheets. I don't know whether that's significant yet.

Include it in the samples. If the surface condition changes separation, clean panels could hide the problem.

Sent uncleaned samples in the original wrapping. Asked them to leave half that way and document anything they do to the others.

Add the stack height and edge condition to the test description. Those can change the pickup situation too.

Film the stack edge during pickup, not just the tool from above.

Useful view. Also request a positive account of how many panels arrived at the nest; video alone may miss a pair.

What does the present report call a successful pick? I am wondering whether it records only the vacuum signal, or also checks the delivered panel count.

A seal indication isn't a sheet counter. Easy for a report to blur that distinction.

Just vacuum established and held for the bench test. I've asked for separate results for retention, sheet count and placement. No point one green tick doing three jobs.

Will a detected double pick leave the job pending, or will the trial operator remove it and the demonstration continue? That affects what a successful run means.

Haven't defined that. I'd assumed they'd stop and show us the failure, but I'll get it written into the trial plan. No quiet tidying between picks.

Ask for the raw attempt count, including interrupted attempts. A highlight reel can make troublesome tooling look ready.

And retain the bent sample if an edge catches; its shape tells you more than 'placement failed'.

First sample trial found a pair lifting together. Vacuum indication looked normal. They caught it in the receiving check, so at least we now have the failure on record.

Was that pair from the uncleaned set? That would help identify which condition to investigate, although one occurrence would not establish a reliable separation method.

Do not accept cleaning as the fix unless your production supply will be cleaned under an agreed process.

Yes, uncleaned. Production isn't going to clean every panel, so the tooling firm is reviewing separation with that condition included. Still no answer on edge support.

They've also sent a side view now. The free corner drops below the nest lip on approach. Two separate jobs for them, then: separation and a support arrangement that reaches the nest cleanly.

Keep both findings attached to the revised trial. Solving the double pickup must not conceal the remaining support problem.
