Why does my FR10 review make the preparation disappear?

A reader asked how long I spent setting up the enclosure tray in my FR10 trial. I had to admit it was ready when I arrived. Then I reread my own post and saw why they asked: I'd called the whole thing straightforward, not just the supervised run I actually did. The demonstrator had sorted the enclosures, fitted the fingers and loaded the job. I changed a full tray with his guidance and ran the saved example. What should I change in the review so the useful bits survive without pretending I did the preparation?

Put that preparation list beside the 'straightforward' claim. Then say which steps you performed and where the demonstrator guided you. The reader can still use your experience of the run without mistaking it for a setup account.

Would you change the title too? It currently says easy tray loading, which is doing quite a lot of work.

Yes. 'My supervised enclosure-tray trial' would tell me what I'm about to read. You can still say the parts you tried felt easy, with the guidance right beside them.

Thanks, Chloe. That sounds like the visit I actually had. I was worried a corrected title had to sound like a complaint.

It doesn't. I like reading a positive first impression when the boundaries are clear. Knowing that the tooling was prepared tells me what to ask about next, not that you were wrong to enjoy the run.

What happened when you changed the tray, Toby? That's a useful bit of direct experience. Did the demonstrator tell you each check, or did you use a sheet and ask about one awkward step?

Yasmin's question is worth answering in the review. 'With guidance' can conceal everything from a quick reminder to somebody making each decision for you.

He showed the tray-location check, then watched me repeat it. I asked whether a pocket was empty by design. He answered from the job plan; I didn't decide that myself.

That is much more useful than a general ease score. It tells a future trainer that tray identity and the intended pocket pattern need explaining before the learner can work independently.

And don't turn his answer into your recovery experience. An intentionally empty pocket isn't an interrupted run with a missing enclosure.

Chloe, yes, though Toby hasn't claimed recovery here. I'd simply add that interruptions weren't part of the visit, if that was the case, and leave space for a later account.

They weren't. The original post didn't mention recovery either, but 'easy' probably encouraged people to fill in the blanks. I've drafted the preparation paragraph and the tray example separately.

Fair point, Bruno. I was heading off a claim Toby hadn't made. The empty-pocket example is useful on its own.

Does the new paragraph say who loaded the job as well as who fitted the fingers? Readers often notice the visible tooling and assume the software appeared by itself.

Yes, it names both. I've also kept my observation that the displayed step was easy to follow once he had explained the job. That's genuinely what I experienced.

Correction posted under the new title, with a short note explaining the change. The reader who asked about setup time now has a direct answer: I didn't measure it.

That is a fair correction. A later independent changeover would make a useful second review, but it need not be invented to complete this one.
