Our FR5 puck rocks in the pocket before pickup

One aluminium puck rocks before the fingers touch it. Others sit flat. The FR5 pickup has acquired several corrections anyway. I want the incoming parts and pocket compared before we add another.

Keep that puck identified and compare its underside with an ordinary one against the part drawing. If it already rocks, begin with the surfaces meeting in the pocket. Don't assume the outside diameter tells the whole story.

Quality found a different underside recess. It has the same outer shape but belongs to another assembly family. Stores is checking how it reached this tray.

Is it the only one?

Not known yet. Affected tray is held. The returned-parts box mixes loose pucks without family identification.

Then the return route needs fixing, not just the robot tray. Otherwise somebody will sort today's mix and refill it from the same helpful mystery box.

Can the loader recognise the recess before loading? If it is hidden afterwards, the check needs to happen while it is visible.

Hazel, recognition helps, but I'd first ask why unclassified returns can join identified supply at all. A visual check shouldn't become permission to keep the mixed box in circulation.

Owen, agreed. Still need a clear route for the pucks that come back loose.

Returns now go to a separate held location for identification by the assigned stores and quality staff. The loader will only receive identified supply. Mixed box withdrawn, not relabelled by guesswork.

That answers my concern. Please show the cover loader the held location too. They may be the person receiving the next loose return

What did you find in the rest of that tray, Amara?

Three from the other family. All separated by quality. Intended-family samples seat flat in the checked pocket. Maintenance found no damage to its locating surfaces.

Now have the responsible controls person review the pickup corrections against the intended parts and checked fixture. Keep the history. Simply calling the tray sorted leaves the program carrying attempts to accommodate the wrong family.

Did that review find any edits you still needed?

One belonged to an earlier approved fixture change. Kept it. The later compensations were removed in the assessed return check with identified intended-family pucks; pickup and receiving release were square.

Cover loader has used the new return route and found the correct identified tray without help. Stores also split the two families' supply locations. We have closed this incident with the wrong-family findings retained.

Thanks for checking with cover. Did any more loose returns arrive after that? Interested whether the new holding location is being used
