turned cartons sit across the gaps in our FR10 layer

Our carton base has two narrow bearing strips. On the FR10 drawing, the second layer turns them across spaces between the boxes below. The tool designer says the pattern is efficient. What should packaging see before we accept that description?

A section through the actual bearing strips, with the packed contents and pallet construction identified. Efficiency needs more than a full-looking top view.

I can supply an opened packed carton and the pallet drawing. The current layer file has outside dimensions only, so the bearing strips never reached the designer.

Who deals with the part pallet at the end of a short order, Amara? The most efficient full stack can still create awkward work for the person who has to finish something smaller.

Lower capacity also adds pallet changes. Include both effects in the comparison.

Sara, yes. I wouldn't pick the sparse pattern by instinct either. Packaging support, tool access and the actual dispatch work need to be compared for the same candidates.

Gabriel, agreed. My concern is the missing task, not a vote for fewer cartons. I've seen a worker inherit the final awkward positions after the automation got credit for the easy ones.

Omar, dispatch finishes partial pallets by hand. They're joining the review. Packaging has asked for a section of the turned layer with the internal packing shown before suggesting a change.

Can dispatch reach those finishing positions in the proposed layout?

Not checked yet. I've put that on the same review, rather than drawing an improvised route for them.

When packaging suggests a candidate, keep the tool opening and withdrawal in its section too. A support change should not quietly fill the space the fingers require.
