Our plan for arranging shipping cartons in pallet layers with Fairino FR5 in a carton palletising project has a very neat alternating layer drawing. But a sealed corrugated shipping carton has a preferred support direction, and some rotated cartons sit over gaps.
I want packaging support and tool access reviewed together before I accept the pattern. Where should I start?
@ElliotCarter1031 Start by showing the carton edges that carry load and the pallet deck support on the layer drawings. Is the complete gripper outline available to overlay as well?
@ElliotCarter1031 Give packaging and the integrator a drawing combining those details. A repeated unrotated layer is worth assessing alongside the alternating one because it may better suit the specified support direction.
The repeated arrangement remains a candidate, not an accepted solution. Its support and load stability still need assessment for the cartons with their actual contents.
You're right to qualify the suggestion. I intended an alternative for comparison, with both patterns requiring packaging assessment of support and stability using the specified filled cartons.
That rule is too broad because changing the pattern changes the load paths. The packaging reviewer needs the carton construction and support geometry to assess the result.
The layer overlay shows carton edges above gaps below. That gives me something specific to mark for packaging instead of saying the pattern feels wrong
@ElliotCarter1031 I had a separate dispatch setup where the carton top view omitted the pallet's deck gaps. Including the deck geometry exposed additional positions for packaging assessment.
Include the deck geometry in the pattern's pallet reference. Matching overall dimensions don't establish identical support beneath the carton arrangement.
@ElliotCarter1031 Add the complete tool geometry and adjacent cartons at the corner positions. A tool-centre point alone can't establish whether the body or fingers overlap nearby packaging.
The tool outline overlaps the next carton at one corner in our offline layout. Lovely rectangles, inconvenient gripper. I'll flag that position for the integrator
I've got a useful review basis now: show support and the complete tool on the layer drawings, then have both specialists assess it. That answers my starting question; the pattern itself remains conditional on their findings
