The grip leans only after we refill the tray

Our FR5 housing pickup behaves until somebody refills the tray. Then the housing leans in the fingers and we get another request to move the pickup point. Same tray, apparently. Three corrections already and I'm tired of calling this commissioning. What would you look at first?

Does refilling mean lifting the tray out? That would be my first question, before anyone adds correction number four to the collection.

Yes. Comes out onto a trolley, gets filled, goes back against two stops. Nobody is changing the insert as far as I know.

Can maintenance check how it sits against those stops after refitting? A tray can look right from above and still be perched on something.

Found a shiny rub on one corner underneath. Not a lump of swarf. Tray rocks on the bench too, which I hadn't tried before.

That's worth showing them. How is it supported on the trolley while people fill it?

And is it empty when you do the bench check? We had a light tray sit beautifully until a student filled the outside row. Then it bowed. Took us far too long to stop testing an empty tray.

Empty on the bench. Mei, I'll get the loaded condition checked as well. Reece, trolley has two narrow runners; the corner sits beyond one of them.

Does the same corner lift on the cell supports, or only on that bench?

Same corner on the cell supports. Maintenance checked it with the cell isolated. I was about to blame the trolley outright, but they want to check the tray before making that leap.

Bent tray is enough trouble for now, no need to convict the trolley yet

Check the refill handling with the operators. If someone has to press a housing into a tight pocket, that unsupported corner could be taking the load.

Rebecca's point rings a bell. We had a fixture used as a convenient pressing surface because the proper bench was always covered in boxes.

That's exactly what I watched. Tight housing, heel of the hand, corner hanging off the runner. Nobody thought of it as pressing, just filling the tray.

There it is. Why is the pocket tight?

A burr on the pocket edge from earlier damage. Toolroom found it. They're repairing the tray and checking the support arrangement, not asking the operators to develop a gentler palm.

Good. Give them somewhere to put a damaged tray without leaving the station short. Otherwise it will quietly become the usable one again.

What became of the three pickup edits?

Integrator reviewed them after the tray repair. Tool setup and verified pickup are now sorted, and the loaded refill trials passed. Stores has a spare tray allocated. Thanks for getting me to look underneath, Reece.

Probably the least glamorous useful check of the week.
