rotating the cartons moves the support problem upstairs

I'm reviewing a UR5e pallet proposal after doing similar floor checks on another layout. The first layer looks supported, but rotated cartons higher up bridge finger gaps. How should we test that cheaply?

Ask packaging to look at two actual packed layers, including whatever sits between them. An empty first layer is very agreeable and carries almost no useful argument.

They want filled samples and the real pallet. I've got those arranged. I was tempted to use the empty display cartons because they're easier to move.

Understandable. Also how every demo becomes suspiciously smooth.

What holds the weight inside these cases? Divider, foam, the product itself?

Mina's question matters. I can't tell you how much unsupported span your case tolerates without knowing its construction. Packaging should set the trial, not us improvising a tower.

Have the tool supplier check the same layer positions for release space. I recently found those finger gaps were the reason our support strips ended up over empty space.

And if packaging changes a position, send that version back to the tool person. Otherwise each will approve a different stack and everyone will be pleased until installation.

Internal divider carries the contents. Packaging marked its feet on the layer drawing and wants a different arrangement. Tool supplier is checking the revised gaps now.

Revised layout leaves fewer cases in the layer but gives the divider feet support in the proposed trial. We haven't approved it yet; loaded testing and gripper access both still need finishing.

Fewer boxes may be fine. Fewer boxes arriving damaged would be finer; wait for packaging's result before apologising for the count.
