Pallet support versus finger clearance. Cannot approve both drawings.

UR5e pallet proposal. Packaging wants cartons tight together; tooling needs a gap. Two approved sketches, incompatible arrangements.

Put them side by side with the differences marked. Are they using the same carton dimensions and layer pattern? Someone may be answering an older enquiry without realising it.

Same carton. Different second layer. Tool supplier moved the middle pair apart.

Then packaging hasn't approved the arrangement tooling actually drew. They need that version, with the reason for the gap. Otherwise you're comparing answers to two different questions.

The gap might be needed for those fingers, not for every possible tool. Ask what other tooling options were considered. Don't start redesigning the carton around the first sketch without that conversation.

Yes, I should have said the proposed tool needs the gap. Another design might change the options, though I don't know what suits your cartons.

Bring the person who removes incomplete pallets into this. We had a drawing for perfect full layers, and then Friday's short order needed someone to invent the last layer. That person should not have to guess what support is acceptable.

How often do you finish with a partial layer? That could be a normal requirement rather than an occasional recovery problem.

Most short orders. Added partial layers to the review; dispatch hadn't been consulted.

We were the dispatch people in exactly that sort of meeting, invited after everything was 'finished' and then blamed for wanting somewhere to stand. Mark pallet removal space on the plan as well, please.

Removal space already shown. Partial-layer handling wasn't. Different omission, same late invitation.

Fair enough, I got carried away with ours. Has dispatch actually seen that space with their pallet truck in mind, or just the pallet outline?

What came out of the packaging and tooling discussion? I'm interested whether they kept the fingers and changed the pattern, or went back to the tool.

Back to tooling. Packaging rejected that spread-out second layer. Dispatch has reviewed the handling space now.

Useful decision. Get the alternative quoted against the carton and layer you actually want. Otherwise the next offer can quietly come with another rearranged layer and you start again.

New enquiry includes carton revision, both layers and partial-order requirements. No tool selected yet.

Did anyone put a cost on the fewer-cartons option as well? Not pushing it, just wondering whether you compared that with a more complicated tool.
