Our FR10 unloads moulded sleeves from a tray, and the technician has adjusted several pickup points after intermittent trouble. Looking at the latest recording, I think the sleeve is upright before contact and tilts as the jaws close.
I would like to arrange a mechanical inspection before we make another coordinate change, although I am unsure how to distinguish a worn contact surface from a locating problem.
Can you see whether both contact pads reach the sleeve together? A view square to the jaw travel could help your technician locate the first visible change. The existing coordinate adjustments may be compensating for something that happens after approach.
One pad appears to touch earlier, though the camera angle is poor. We have retained the current program and paused further teaching changes until maintenance can inspect it.
Have maintenance compare the pads and fingers with the intended assembly, with the equipment isolated for the inspection. Look for mounting differences as well as wear. An intact replacement pad can still be the wrong thickness.
That gives you a specific thing to verify. I would avoid concluding it is wrong until someone compares it with the specified pad. Also find out whether the skew started before or after that replacement.
Measure both installed contact positions, not just loose pad thickness. A shim left behind can undo your very sensible parts comparison (we had exactly that on a camera fixture).
Good addition. The assembled contact geometry is what the sleeve encounters. Ask the technician to document that before removing parts, so you don't lose the evidence during a perfectly reasonable tidy-up.
It does not, but the inspection found an extra backing strip behind the newer pad. Maintenance is checking why it was fitted before deciding on the correction.
We inherited stacked backing pieces after three shifts each corrected the last shift. Make the approved stack-up visible in the handover or this can come back with the next pad change.
Once the assembly is corrected, have the technician review those coordinate changes against the intended baseline. Leaving every compensating adjustment in place may create a new problem. The inspection finding doesn't by itself prove the whole job is ready.
Maintenance confirmed the extra strip was an undocumented adjustment. They restored the approved assembly and reviewed the affected pickup points during recommissioning; the sleeves now remain square through closure in the checked tray positions.
That is a useful outcome. Has the replacement-pad stock been labelled with the approved assembly reference? It would help the next person avoid reconstructing this thread during a breakdown.
