How do we know the lower panel stayed in the stack?

I'm helping with an FR5 enclosure-panel loading trial. Supplier sent a vacuum trace and a picture of one steel panel on the cups. Our panels come off a stack, though. I don't know much about separating sheets yet. What should I ask them to show on the next trial?

A pickup from the stack and a count of what lands in the nest, not another picture of vacuum holding one panel.

Should that count be a sensor check? They've only proposed vacuum confirmation so far.

Vacuum isn't a sheet count.

Understood. I'll ask what they propose for detecting two sheets rather than suggesting hardware myself.

Ask how they'll test it with an actual pair as well, or you'll only see it correctly count singles.

Our operator used to peel a second sheet off at the receiving table and carry on. Nobody thought to count that as a failed pickup because the next station got one sheet eventually. Then we tried to automate the table and discovered how much of the separation job his hands had been doing. Ask whoever currently handles yours what they stop to fix. You'll probably get more out of that chat than the tidy demonstration. Not saying you have the same problem, but I wish we'd asked sooner.

Exactly, write those interventions into the trial results instead of letting them disappear between successful picks.

Who clears a detected pair on your shift?

That needs an answer before handover too.

No answer yet. I've asked the project lead to include recovery in the trial plan. Thanks Imran, I'll talk to our current bench operator too.

Has anyone shown you the panel entering the nest? Our thin lids sagged at the free edge. They were single picks all right, just not a shape the next fixture liked.

Only resting in it afterwards. The video skips the approach. I'll request a side view that includes the free edge.

They've skipped half the interesting bits, then.

Don't assume they hid a failure. Might just be someone filming the arm because that's the expensive bit. Send a little shot list: stack edge, supported panel, entry, release. Saves another round of guesswork.
