I cannot choose scratch labels from these bezel pictures

I have two pictures of the same aluminium bezel, one marked good and one scratched. The bright line changes place. Our FR10 inspection is not commissioned; I need labels our next shift can understand.

Find the bezel first. Pictures alone won't settle its condition.

And keep both pictures. The wrong label is useful to explain, even after you correct it.

We have the bezel. Quality found a small nick by a hole, but not where either bright line appears. I had expected one fault or the other, not both.

Two separate things, yep. Can the camera actually see that nick?

Sarah's question matters more than the shiny line now. Is the nick in the area this inspection is supposed to cover?

I would also ask who assigned the first two labels. A training folder can carry an early guess for months because everyone assumes someone else checked it. That is especially awkward when a new shift treats the folder as the answer key.

Henry, ours had that. A folder called final. Naturally there were three of them.

Sarah and Nina: the nick is in scope and visible, though faint. Henry: I made the labels from the pictures. I will correct them with quality rather than ask the next shift to guess.

When you say the line changes place, John, does it move across the metal or only across the picture? I got caught by that distinction when comparing two parts that were framed differently.

Across the metal. It crosses a different hole in the second picture. The nick stays beside the same hole.

That gives you a useful teaching pair: the same physical nick under two presentations, with the changing reflection identified separately. Keep the full images too; close crops can hide the presentation difference you are trying to explain.

Don't crop out the hole. It's doing useful work here.

Thanks, John. That answers what I was trying to ask. I would still keep a clean bezel beside it, because otherwise your set only teaches people about one damaged part.

A clean bezel and a borderline one if quality can supply it. Obvious damage is the easy example.

Quality has supplied an accepted bezel with a similar finish. Our corrected pair now shows the nick, not the moving line, as the defect. I have left threshold selection out of this exercise.

Can the next shift locate the nick from your new page without you standing beside them? That would be a useful check on the handover wording.

And let them say the picture's rubbish if it is.
