Two FR5 quotes with different finger lengths

Both tooling quotes list only our motor housing mass. One drawing has longer fingers and a thicker adapter. I cannot see how to compare the complete loaded assemblies.

Have either of them identified the actual assembly assessed, or have you only received a housing weight beside a robot name?

Get the complete loaded mass, centre of gravity and inertia information against each drawing revision; the assessor needs the proposed motion too

Please include the fittings in those drawings, because stores will order the pictured assembly and the small extras have a way of arriving on a separate email.

The longer fingers may be doing a job the short set cannot. What is the nest access like? A lighter proposal that cannot release the housing is not much of a bargain.

Jonas, only the housing mass so far. Lucy, the long fingers reach past the nest wall. The shorter proposal shows a different nest insert which is not included in its price.

There's your price comparison gone sideways. I'd price the insert before arguing over which fingers look economical. Does either supplier own making that insert work?

Can the short fingers withdraw after release, with that proposed insert fitted?

Ask for both complete views first. That costs less than discovering the missing insert after ordering.

Keep a housing in its intended inspection location in those views. Moving the insert to suit pickup can change what the inspection setup can see or reference, and whoever maintains that setup needs a say.

Who owns acceptance of the changed inspection nest?

Zara Bell, price it yes, but Aaron still needs both loaded assemblies assessed; a complete quote can still contain an unsuitable tool

Agreed. I was objecting to the missing cost, not giving the long one a free pass.

Our inspection lead owns the nest change, Rosa. Both suppliers have now named their complete tool drawings. The short-finger supplier priced the insert but excluded inspection requalification.

Thanks for finding the owner. Ask that person what work the changed nest creates before you fill the excluded line with a guess.

Owen, the short-tool view now shows withdrawal with its insert. Our inspection lead still needs to check the revised locating features. Purchasing has removed the apparent saving until that work is priced.

And have the suppliers sent the loaded assembly information Mina asked for, or only the more complete drawings?
