Tray locator helped until the replacement tray arrived

The locator stopped our UR5e sleeve tray moving at the bench in the supervised checks, but a replacement tray brought back a missed pickup, so I want to describe the improvement without claiming we have cured every tray problem.

Describe those as two observations. Did the replacement move in the locator, or did it stay put while the pickup missed? The difference matters to what you can reasonably say the locator improved.

It stayed put, Ella, and the sleeve sat off the expected pickup position even though the tray's outside edges were against the stops.

Are the pockets in the same positions? Matching the outside doesn't tell you that.

Compare the actual locating faces too, because a tray can touch the visible stops while resting on a different underside feature (I've had a moulded rib quietly become the highest point).

I'd leave the locator in the improvement note, because otherwise the next person may remove something useful while chasing the replacement tray's different problem.

Who decides which trays may come back to the bench?

Stores can separate them once someone identifies the difference.

Stores shouldn't have to discover that difference from a failed pickup

Maintenance checked both trays on the bench, Bruno and Anna: they sit on the intended supports, but the replacement's pocket spacing belongs to our shorter sleeve family, which uses the same outer tray size.

Then label your comparison with those two tray identities, because an overall size measurement would have made them look interchangeable in my notes too

That explains why another pickup nudge would have been a poor cure. Has the short-sleeve tray been taken out of this job's supply?

Nadia, I meant separate known families after maintenance identifies them, not ask stores to diagnose robot misses.

Yes Bruno, and stores found the shared container label was only the outside size; they've separated the families and our trainer is adding the tray identity to the job's changeover check.

A different colour can help people spot a mix-up, but I wouldn't make colour the sole identifier if you use it; worn or replaced trays still need a reliable family identification.

Harish, did you get another check with the intended replacement tray? That would let you update the result beyond explaining why the wrong one missed, while keeping the extent of the check clear.

We did: the original tray and two identified replacements completed the supervised comparison without the earlier tray movement or missed pickups, and I have kept their identities with the result rather than saying all trays are sorted.

Did the relief operator use the new changeover check?

Not yet, Morgan; the trainer did the comparison, so the relief operator's handover is still outstanding, and thanks Ella for making me say which part had actually improved.
