Crate corner crushed, supports shifted and visible damage near the controller enclosure; I kept the packaging and photos, and the FR5 remains unpowered despite the seller's suggestion to try it

Who can authorise a qualified assessment of the damaged unit before energisation? A seller's switch-on suggestion does not establish its condition.

Our equipment lead has kept it isolated in receiving; seller has not named an assessor or offered anything beyond the power-on message

Send the serial and damage-location photos with the receiving record and ask for a written assessment or return proposal. Keep the crate and shifted supports as found where practical. Don't open or straighten the enclosure to make the photographs clearer; qualified inspection should decide what happens next.

That request is sent through purchasing, with the unopened enclosure and retained packaging identified; equipment lead will not accept a remote guess about internal condition

Have they acknowledged the enclosure damage specifically? It would help distinguish an actual response to your concern from a standard commissioning reply.

And keep the power-on instruction in the correspondence. It explains why you asked for a different route.

They acknowledge the visible damage now and have referred it to their service coordinator; no qualified inspection findings, so the isolation stays

Has the coordinator proposed inspection at your site or a documented return, including who arranges handling of the damaged consignment?

If they choose return, get the packing and collection arrangements assessed too. The original supports shifted, so put it back how it came is not a useful transport plan for this unit.

Anika, does your equipment lead have a named service contact now? That would make the next action something receiving can follow instead of another open-ended instruction from sales.

Yes, Toby; coordinator has offered a return for assessment, subject to agreed protective packing and collection details. Purchasing and our equipment lead are checking those terms. Nothing repacked, powered or collected yet
