the turned boxes bridge our finger gaps

I have a joint section of our proposed FR5 pallet layer now. Turning the packed boxes for the next layer puts two bearing edges over the finger gaps below. Would a straight-layer option be a sensible comparison before we commit to a support sheet?

Yes. My own sheet option has stalled because nobody can source the specified sheet. Is yours an actual available material or a line added to the drawing?

The straight option still needs checking with the actual packed cases. Do its bearing edges land where packaging expects, or does it merely make the finger exit easier?

Callum, even a stocked sheet needs somebody to put it there, and somebody to deal with the stack when it arrives bent; our packer quite reasonably wanted that work in the comparison

Alex, packaging has marked acceptable bearing edges on the straight section. Callum, the sheet is only a proposal so far. Jane's handling point matters because our packer also tends the label station.

Then give the straight option a price. Don't wait for the sheet to acquire a supplier by sympathy.

And count whole orders, Sara, not just boxes on one pallet; a few empty positions can turn into another pallet change at exactly the moment your packer is busy labelling

Jane's extra pallet is the tradeoff I'd expect to see. I'd still favour the simpler tool if the dispatch space and exchange work fit, but I wouldn't decide from the layer picture alone

We priced the whole order and walked the extra pallet change with dispatch. There is space in the existing marked staging area, and the extra exchange costs less than the sheet handling in our estimate. Tooling has also shown the full finger exit for the straight layer.

Did that walk include a partial pallet? That's where our lovely neat exchange explanation went wrong.

It did, including resuming it after a different order. We have selected the straight-layer design for the trial quotation. Thank you, Jane, for making me count the packer's work rather than just the boxes.
