The bracket passes only after the operation missing from our notes

Our FR5 bracket plan is being informed by old records showing alignment under restraint and bad dimensions after release. A correction follows, then final acceptance. I want to understand that middle operation before we inherit it, although the final sheet looks wonderfully uncomplicated.

Find the correction's owner first. What did they physically change, and where was the released part supported for inspection?

Former operator describes correcting the upright angle at another bench. The released inspection support arrangement is not shown in the folder. I've asked the inspector about it.

Are the final dimensions recorded before or after that correction?

After. I cannot quantify the original departure from those figures. The earlier failed dimensions are only a general note, not paired readings.

Get the actual drawing revisions sorted too. We nearly planned extra restraint around an older gusset design because the accepted sample looked close enough to the current one.

Old records cover two revisions. Final sheet identifies the later one; earlier alignment notes aren't labelled clearly. Keeping that uncertainty visible.

Who has carried the correction labour into your estimate, Warren? I can't tell whether the new fixture removes it, but I can tell a final acceptance tick doesn't make the person's work free

Nobody had. Planner has added an unresolved operation now rather than assigning zero time. I haven't invented a rate from the old batch total.

Does the new layout still leave space for the released check while you investigate? A blank cost line won't preserve its bench.

It did not. Inspection bench was drawn out of the proposal. I've asked the planner to restore its provisional space until the new process is defined.

You can revise that space later with evidence. Much less painful than discovering you need a checking station after everything else has claimed the floor.

Did the inspector explain the released support arrangement?

Yes, a sketch is now recorded and being checked against the old part revision. We still have no individually identified measurements from before correction.

Then a current-part study is the next comparison to define. Keep the old sketch as background until quality agrees the method for today's bracket.

Quality and fabrication are planning incoming, released and corrected readings on identified parts. Fixture designer has those open requirements. No result from that study yet.

Will somebody who did the old job attend? They might explain the awkward physical bits that never made it into the final sheet, without the team having to treat their old fix as sacred

Former operator is invited. Thanks Felix for the labour question; it got planning involved instead of leaving this as a debate about clamp geometry.

Have you got representative current brackets available, including the ordinary variation? One carefully selected sample won't tell the fixture designer much about incoming fit-up.

Fabrication is selecting and identifying them to the agreed study plan. That selection is not complete. I have left fixture approval and any claim about removing correction open.
