How many more bag dividers does this FR10 trial deserve?

Our FR10 hardware-kit packing trial transfers bags nicely once somebody has flattened and arranged them. Every kit change adds another divider or guide. I keep making the next one because the last one nearly worked. What would make you stop spending time on this without writing off the useful bit too?

Measure a complete order, including bag preparation. What useful bit remains after that time is counted?

Less repetitive lifting for the operator, potentially. We have only timed the transfer so far, which is the flattering part of the job.

Ask the operator. Potentially less tiring can also mean a different tedious task

She likes the transfer on the standard kit. Hates arranging the long bags, and says my newest guides make that worse. Fair comment, if not my favourite one.

Could the long bags stay manual while you compare the standard kit properly?

A narrow use is reasonable. It still needs an owner for changeover and maintenance.

At present that owner is me, including answering calls when I'm meant to be in stores. That probably belongs in the comparison too.

It definitely belongs. Your spare time isn't a component supplied with the robot

We've stopped adding variants and agreed to compare one standard-kit order with the manual method. Setup, preparation and my interventions all included. Thanks, Louis, excluding the long bags makes the question manageable.

Will the same operator try both methods, with the same filled bags?

And agree what result would justify keeping it before the comparison happens.

Include the workload benefit as a stated aim, if that matters to the operator.

Elliot, yes, same operator and kit. Liam and Louis, we want less repetitive handling without increasing total labour or needing me called over during the order. Those are the agreed questions, not an automatic pass for moving bags.

Who can say stop if it misses those aims? Not just you, hopefully

Our production lead and operator will decide with me. The first comparison needed two interventions, so we're not declaring it ready. One was a poor tray presentation; the other still needs explaining.

Will the next comparison repeat the complete order after any change, not only that troublesome pickup?

Did the operator still prefer it with those interruptions included?
