Use identified parts through the stages. I withdrew an in-fixture pass claim in another review because the photograph did not show a measurement. What does aligned mean on your sheet?

Which check should define acceptance for our released gusset bracket?

And what released dimension failed? The correction may be addressing something other than the alignment the fixture operator checks.
8分Lucy, aligned means the upright contacted the fixture stops. Emma, the released check is hole-axis position relative to the base. There is no corresponding in-fixture reading of that feature.
6分Then don't ask the operator to defend a dimensional pass they never made. Their stop check can still be useful for explaining how the part was loaded.
0分Put the actual supports beside the released readings. Otherwise before correction and after correction may use different setups and still end up in one attractive column.
19分Chloe, agreed. The useful question is whether the stops locate the incoming assembly as intended, followed by what the released part measures. Calling one check wrong does not supply the missing one.
5分The operator is happy to show the fit-up check. He is less happy that the estimate treats correction as zero time. I have left that allowance open rather than carry forward the blank.
7分That is reasonable, Sam, but do you know whether every assembly is corrected or only the ones that fail? The estimate will need that distinction.
8分Emma, yes. We had a route instruction people signed even when they just checked and passed the part along. The tick did not mean they had worked on every one.
10分A timed observation could record check-only and correction separately. Let the process and quality people define the trial, though; a stopwatch won't decide whether the method is suitable.
19分There is no per-part correction record. The supervisor says some need it and some do not. We have asked fabrication and quality to define a small traceable comparison before timing the route.
13分Use the current drawing and incoming component revisions in that comparison. Our fixture review needed those too, because finished corrected examples could not explain the earlier fit-up.
6分Sam, does the proposed fixture contact the same surfaces as the old one? I would keep that difference visible if it does not.
0分Two contacts move in the proposal. The toolmaker has marked them on the current component drawing, revision E, and quality is defining the released check against assembly revision H.
23分Good to have both revisions named. Are the retained parts actually to those component and assembly revisions?
17分Leo's question is worth the nuisance. We found old stock used for a demonstration because it was already on the bench, while everyone discussed the new drawing.
6分The retained example predates component E. It will stay as an old failure example, not the trial specimen. Current components have been selected for the planned comparison.
24分That leaves the trial able to answer the current fixture question. Keep the old failure and its different revision visible in the background, without asking it to justify the new contact arrangement.
7分Trial plan is agreed, results still pending. The buying review now shows the fixture cost separately from an unresolved correction allowance. That is less convenient than the original estimate, but it is usable.
