Get them to compare that face position explicitly, including its effect on your existing tool rather than just the bracket in isolation.

I've sent that request, plus the confirmation email for drawing B so the agreed arrangement doesn't disappear from the discussion.

And who covers the toolmaker's review if the substitution requires different tooling?

Suffix meaning is still unanswered, Harish; seller calls D their current bracket and says B can be made, but hasn't given a price or time for that.

Don't let can be made turn into replacement arranged. Ask for the actual proposal for B while your toolmaker reviews D.

The toolmaker can compare the interfaces without approving a complete application. Make sure the seller doesn't turn a drawing comment into permission to ship another substitute.

Toolmaker's first comment is that D changes the tool offset, not that D is acceptable; I've kept those words in the reply and asked sales to answer the cost question as well.

Has the seller explained the suffix yet? The offset finding answers the bracket question but may not identify everything that differs in the supplied configuration.

They now say the suffix names their supplied interface package, and have sent its item list; our installer is checking that list against the order, so I'm not treating the explanation alone as closure.

Does their proposal include replacing B at their expense, or are they asking you to fund a return to the agreed arrangement?

Daniel, I'd want that answer before spending much more design time on D. Easy to drift into paying to make the convenient replacement work.

They've offered B without a further bracket charge, but transport and lead time are still being discussed; D has not been approved and our tooling remains off the arm.

That leaves a real option. Have them identify which other interface parts stay with B, not only the bracket name.

Ella, does the installer's item comparison show any additional difference besides the bracket?

The listed cable and fastener set match the order; bracket arrangement is the outstanding difference, according to the installer's comparison. Still waiting for the complete B replacement proposal.

Please post when they give you that proposal; an offer to make the right bracket still leaves you without a delivery plan.
