Is the tool already selected, or are its dimensions still provisional? That determines what information the designer can use for the first complete layout.

Another mill, another door missing from the loading sketch

Selected gripper body. Fingers still being designed. We know their required contact on the blank but not the final outside shape.
7分Ask the toolmaker for an agreed provisional envelope, including the open state. Have the reviewer list the dimensions that still require confirmation before arm selection.
23分Toolmaker will do that. The machine owner is also measuring the actual opening; its handle differs from the catalogue drawing.
16分Where will the base stand relative to the fixture?
7分I would pause the base choice until the fingers are further along, because long fingers designed around an early base position can leave you paying to rescue that first layout. Is there a reason the arm has to be selected now?
7分Purchasing wants to reserve workshop installation time. No technical reason to fix the base today. We can make the reservation conditional on the access review.
13分Do that. A calendar booking shouldn't design the tool.
16分Agreed. Proposed base is left of the opening, with a second position farther out. Both remain candidates, and the tooling envelope is now attached to them.
20分Can the operator still get the fixture out from the left?
9分Check the part withdrawal through the door as well as its final loaded position. Does the planned sequence turn the steel blank inside the machine?
14分No internal turn in this sequence. The setter wants the farther base to preserve fixture removal space. Integrator is studying that candidate first.
8分Does the drawing include any fixed fittings on the inside face of the open door? Those can be missed when only the door thickness is shown.
7分Our door had a hose clip exactly where the empty drawing said clear.
19分The measured layout includes the handle and internal hose bracket. Thanks for raising those; the first catalogue outline showed neither.
21分How much of the finger envelope is now fixed? I am still wary of an arm decision based on a generous-looking drawing that the final tool cannot satisfy.
5分And did the setter actually try the fixture trolley at that farther spot?
6分Trolley access checked on the floor marking. Finger contact geometry is fixed; hose routing is not. The review therefore remains provisional and purchasing has no final arm approval.
16分Fair enough. I'd like to hear how the final tool fits when the routing is settled.
