I cannot rank the FR10 demonstration against a different receiving job

The FR10 candidate unloads our bearing sleeves into a dedicated tray. The other candidate uses our existing workshop tray. I am not going to compare their motion times until we include what happens to the sleeves afterwards. Assembly currently takes the workshop tray directly. The dedicated tray looks easier for the robot, but nobody has said whether assembly can use it or somebody must transfer the sleeves again.

Ask assembly to try the proposed receiving tray before assigning that transfer to an imaginary spare person.

Assembly has the drawing. It cannot fit their present bench rack as drawn. The FR10 supplier offers to reduce the outside frame, but has not shown the revised tray.

Does the existing-tray candidate complete a full unload and tray exchange, or are its awkward moments outside the clip?

I would not discard the dedicated tray yet. Assembly may prefer a new rack to repeated handling. But ask the actual operator to compare access, not just whether the tray fits through the rack opening.

Who priced that new rack?

Nobody here has. I offered it as an option to examine, not a free change.

Lin, the existing-tray clip ends before exchange. I've requested that. Julia and Caleb, assembly will compare the reduced tray when it is drawn; a new rack is not in either offer.

Include the empty tray going back. Full ones rarely get all the handling work to themselves.

For both candidates, please. Otherwise one pays for its awkward exchange while the other gets a magically renewed tray.

Are both using the same sleeve range?

Yes, Caleb. Same identified sleeve range. The FR10 supplier has now returned a reduced-frame tray drawing, and assembly says it fits the rack opening. They still need to check access to the sleeves.

Can the operator get their fingers around the ordinary sleeves at the back as well as the front? That is where a tray can fit perfectly and still be a pain to use.

And do not time assembly with only the front row populated.

Assembly checked a full mock-up. The back row is awkward with the reduced frame because the hand opening is too small. They prefer the existing tray. We have sent that specific access problem back to the supplier.

Any complete exchange result from the existing-tray candidate yet?

That preference matters, but does the alternative supplier have another workable tray arrangement?

Lin, the full existing-tray sequence is back and includes empty return and exchange. Caleb, the other supplier proposes manual transfer from its original tray. We are costing that option with assembly's actual handling time.

Thanks for involving assembly before deciding. Does that extra transfer also need another place to put the two trays? Their hands are not the only thing occupied.

I would favour the existing tray if the complete assessment and cost support it. Less extra handling is useful here.

The manual-transfer option needs another bench position and repeated sleeve handling. With that work included, it offers too little benefit for this pilot and we have declined it. The existing-tray candidate remains under integration assessment; we have not selected its arm yet.
