Can our FR5 keep every filled carton facing the same way?

I want to drop the rotated layer from our FR5 proposal. Our filled cartons have two support strips underneath, and the rotated drawing puts one strip partly above a finger channel. Packaging has shown me the problem on a section, so this isn't another argument about how pretty the pattern looks. The straight arrangement carries fewer cartons per layer. I can live with that if the full stack and tool withdrawal work, but dispatch is treating the original carton count as something sacred. What else should we compare before I push the lower-count option?

Compare the whole stack, not just a better first layer.

That's the missing drawing. We have a straight first layer and then the old rotated layers pasted above it. I hadn't noticed until I tried to count them.

Send it back. Nobody can assess the stack you actually want from that.

Would the lower count mean another pallet for your usual dispatch quantity? Could still be worthwhile, but give dispatch the real difference rather than just telling them to like fewer cartons.

Fair question. Add finished pallet height and the actual removal arrangement to that comparison.

Robin, one common order needs an extra pallet with the straight layout. Dispatch wasn't just being awkward. Packaging is willing to review that complete stack, and tooling has the filled-carton sections. I've asked costing to include the extra pallet handling instead of burying it.

That's a useful disagreement now. I wouldn't buy back the carton count by adding a support sheet unless someone also owns getting that sheet in and out.
