Our UR5e package arrived with a gripper adapter whose locating feature differs from the drawing the seller approved before purchase. The package label also has an extra suffix. Our tool is still on the bench. I would like the discrepancy explained before anyone modifies it to fit.
Identify the arm and the supplied adapter separately, then compare the adapter to the approved drawing revision. A package suffix is a clue, not proof that the arm itself differs.
The suffix is on the seller's package sticker. The arm's own identifier matches our order. The adapter has a different item label from the approved drawing.
Then frame the immediate question around that adapter item. Ask for its applicable drawing and the reason for substitution. No need to diagnose an arm variant from a packing sticker.
Ask them to address the actual locating feature and your tool drawing, including the resulting tool position. Even an adapter that bolts on can change the setup assumptions. Whoever integrates it needs an agreed configuration, not a general assurance.
And do not machine your tool to accommodate it while the supplied configuration remains disputed. That would make the eventual comparison rather less straightforward.
A qualified dimensional check could clarify it, with the components unfitted. Photographs identify the concern; they are not a substitute for the interface dimensions.
Keep each adapter label visible in the measurement record. We once measured the returned sample beautifully and then attached the results to the replacement's paperwork.
Our toolroom confirmed a locating-feature difference against the approved drawing. Purchasing has requested the originally agreed adapter. The seller is reviewing it; no replacement or equivalence assessment is confirmed yet.
