Why are our labelled scratches travelling across the trim plate?

Our FR10 sample identities are clear and kept off the locating surfaces. The labels inside the image folder are less convincing. A bright band moves between presentations and has been marked as a scratch in each position. I want quality to compare the actual plates before we teach the camera these travelling defects. What would you put in that first comparison?
