Why are we rating the bezel photograph instead of the bezel?

During our UR5e inspection planning review, I put two photographs of one accepted aluminium bezel beside each other. One had a bright band and everyone called it damaged. The other was called a good reference. Nobody asked to see the part. I've kept the bezel and both original images. I want quality's physical judgement tied to the sample before we compare lighting and presentation, especially because a separate fine scratch is almost invisible in the view everyone liked. How are others organising that comparison without losing which image came from which setup?
