Bracket passes under clamps, fails on the inspection bench

Our FR5 proposal borrows an old bracket check made under clamps. Released parts failed. That bothers me.

Same drawing requirement at both checks?

Yes. Same hole-spacing requirement, but the restrained check used fixture pins as its reference.

Then why is the proposal calling that final acceptance when the drawing check happens after release?

It may be a planning shortcut rather than an inspection decision, Oscar. Still needs correcting, since it could hide the labour between welding and an accepted bracket.

Grace, is correction work included anywhere in the old job cost?

One labour total. Welding, checking and correction all rolled together. No split.

Maya, yes, I was blaming the wording rather than the inspector; the proposal is what Grace says borrows the check

Don't let them call that whole total welding time then. We once planned a changeover from a number that also contained waiting for inspection. It made every later comparison look odd.

You can still use the combined old total as a whole-job comparison if its start and finish are clear. You just cannot claim to have isolated the welding saving from it.

Maya, would you leave the missing split blank rather than estimate it?

I have removed the under-clamp check from final acceptance. Quality will define the released check.

Alex, an estimate can help planning if its source and uncertainty stay visible. I would not fill empty historical columns with it and pretend those were measured task times.

Thanks Maya, that's a useful distinction for our sheets too. We keep estimates beside actuals and then forget which is which in the summary.

Grace, will somebody time the separate steps in the eventual trial?
