Our alternating layer fits the pallet outline, but rotated component cases put their preferred support direction across gaps. I need packaging support and tool release reviewed together. What should I have observed or specified before accepting the pattern?
Ask packaging to mark the required bearing regions for the filled case and any permitted bridging. Then place those marks over the actual lower layer. That makes the support question specific before tooling adds its own clearance requirements.
And include label-facing requirements from dispatch. Or rather, establish whether they have any; a rotated case can be satisfactory mechanically and still need rehandling before it leaves the building
Packaging has identified two end bearing regions, with the current edge position unacceptable because one lacks support. Dispatch needs one labelled face accessible. We have not yet received the tool opening and withdrawal view.
Then show the carton before and after its neighbours arrive, not just the finished layer. The tool has to get out while the pattern is being built. Who is putting the placement order on the drawing?
Julia, that sequence belongs with the complete tool geometry, since a diagram can leave the fingers clear and omit the body or services that still occupy the neighbouring space. I would also keep changeover access in the review brief.
Which packed case is that, Jamie? I mean the construction reference, not the outside size; stores can replace a carton with an identical-looking one that carries the load differently.
Naomi, the specified case and internal packing have separate references, both now on the drawing. Julia, our integrator owns the sequence. A lower-count candidate has been proposed to keep both ends supported and the label facing out.
Keep that candidate linked to the same support criteria, including the actual pallet beneath its first layer; support by another carton and support across pallet deck gaps are not automatically the same arrangement.
A simple section through the first layer could settle what needs assessment there. I would draw the deck members and the marked bearing regions before asking for a more elaborate model. It may expose a conflict immediately.
Has the lower count changed dispatch's pallet-space estimate, Jamie, because that can decide whether a mechanically promising arrangement is still a sensible purchase?
Aaron, include the part-filled orders in that estimate too. I would keep pallet count and manual finishing time as separate entries; otherwise an average full-pallet figure can hide both
The lower-count first layer is supported on our specified pallet according to packaging's review. Dispatch has costed the extra pallet space and incomplete orders. It is more expensive than our original estimate, but still within the project allowance.
It showed a connection fitting entering the neighbouring case space during withdrawal. The integrator is assessing a different routing with the tool supplier. The lower count did not make the complete tool clear by itself.
Have maintenance review that routing too, Jamie; a line can be moved in the model quite easily, but replacement access and the intended service arrangement need to survive the change. The revised assembly should retain its identity in the load and clearance assessments.
Maintenance and the tool supplier are reviewing the proposed routing together. We have accepted neither that change nor the complete pattern yet. Original edge position is rejected; the lower-count candidate still owes us a workable, serviceable exit.
Please give stores the final fitting reference when it is chosen. Not now as available stock, just when there is an actual approved arrangement to order against.
