I've already requested the open-door survey, complete held tool and cable-replacement access, following the connection issue on our other review. Supplier is still choosing the fitting orientation. Can the integrator compare candidates before that choice is final?

Yes, with each candidate assembly and its uncertainty shown explicitly. Compare the real held blank and connection space through unloading, not a single fitting-free outline that looks final.
