I can turn our proposed enclosure-cover insert round and still seat it, while the selected recipe stays unchanged; what should the tooling and controls people demonstrate together before this becomes a changeover routine?

Have them distinguish correct family, correct orientation and proper seating. A readable name can answer the first and still miss the other two. Then walk through removal and replacement with the selected recipe visible. Ask what invalidates an earlier confirmation, how a wrong or unknown insert is handled, and how the operator knows what needs attention. They should agree that behaviour with the tooling design; adding a more convincing green indication to the current arrangement would not settle it.
