Yes. The nearby obstacles change as the pallet fills. An isolated placement drawing could be correct and still fail to describe the operation you intend.

Chen, I have a supplier note on support direction, not a marked support footprint. Oscar, the integrator owns the layer drawing. I've asked them and packaging to agree one revision instead of passing comments through me.

That note is a starting point, but someone with responsibility for the carton needs to interpret it for this load. Otherwise the integrator will be left guessing how much unsupported area you will tolerate.

Packaging has marked the relevant regions now. The integrator's proposed shift improves support but crowds the release position. We have a joint view at last... and it makes the disagreement easier to see rather than making it disappear.

Is the new release position still a proposal, or has anyone ordered tooling around it?

Proposal only. No tool order based on that shift. Someone has suggested dropping a carton from the row, which dispatch understandably wants to price before we get fond of it.

Does the changed row support the next layer correctly?

Hazel's question matters to the cost comparison too. A reduced count on one row might force changes above it, so dispatch needs the resulting pallet quantity and handling, not just the missing carton count.

Could the tool concept change instead? I cannot tell whether its current width is essential, and fewer cartons is already receiving more attention than the alternative.

Tool changes also need someone assigned to maintain them. Include that in the comparison.

Owen, fair point. We haven't established the tool width is fixed. I've asked for that alternative too. This is exactly why I wanted the people together; I was about to carry the reduced-count option away as the answer.

Who is bringing representative filled cartons to that review? A packaging assessment based on the actual load would be more useful than another meeting around the empty sample box.

I'm arranging the samples with dispatch. Packaging hasn't approved a stack, and the tool alternative isn't drawn yet. We have stopped the original pattern being treated as final, but that is all I can claim today.
