I've found a refurbished FR5 for our puck-transfer trial. What should the seller's inspection tick actually cover?

Can they send the report behind the tick before you book collection? Costs nothing to ask, and you might find it's only a stock-entry check.

I've asked. They say their technician checked it, but haven't sent the scope.

Ask what was inspected, which faults were found and what was repaired. Match the report to the supplied arm, controller and accessories. I would also want to know who will handle a fault after collection, especially if the refurbisher and seller are different firms

I'd still go and look if it's nearby. Photos missed a cracked pendant case on one we considered. But I'd treat that as a viewing, not turn up with a van and talk myself into loading it.

Nearby matters, Zara. A wasted afternoon is different from paying someone to collect kit you haven't really agreed to buy.

Make them list the bits that come with it too. Our cheap used purchase got less cheap once we priced the missing cables that were in the advert's photo but not the sale.

Collection needs a paid carrier. I won't book that as a way of finding out what's included.

A photograph inventory would help before the technical assessment. It needn't be elaborate. The important part is that the seller confirms those identified items are in this sale, rather than sending another example of what an FR5 package can contain.

Exactly. A matching-looking cable in a picture wasn't much use to us when the actual one wasn't in the crate.

Any inspection paperwork yet, Ada?

A checklist arrived. Visual condition and power-up ticked. No fault history or repairs listed. They haven't answered who services it afterwards.

Does 'no repairs listed' mean they confirmed none, or just left the box empty?

Empty box. I don't know what they meant.

Then I would keep the repair history unanswered. The checklist has some value, but you still need an assessment appropriate to the supplied equipment and intended job. A power-up tick alone wouldn't persuade me to absorb the collection cost and whatever service arrangements follow it.

You haven't lost a bargain by asking, Ada. If they answer properly, you can price the actual package. If they keep dodging, at least the carrier hasn't been paid to bring you a question mark.
