I've found a refurbished UR5e at a price we could manage for our moulded-housing transfer. The seller sent a video of it moving an empty tool between two points and called that the inspection. I asked for the inspection scope and got the same video in better quality.
I'm happy to pay for a proper look at a promising used arm, but I don't want collection costs committed first. What would you expect to receive before deciding it's worth a visit?
I'd go further than another video. Ask for a priced inspection visit with someone competent to examine that particular arm, and agree what access they get. Otherwise you can spend your visit watching the seller repeat the same empty move.
Jack and Chloe, I now have their checklist. Serial number matches the photos, but it only records an empty movement check and an external visual check. Louis, the tool is borrowed and excluded. Glad I asked before putting it into our cost sheet.
Chloe, yes, get that first. Rachel has something concrete now, and it sounds like a basic sale check rather than the detailed examination she was expecting. I'd still budget an independent visit if the numbers work.
Rachel, have you seen the control equipment that's supplied with it? One complete photo would be useful. Don't let a video of the arm be the only picture of what you're buying.
Thomas, they will allow a visit, but won't agree to reserve it without a payment they describe as non-refundable. Morgan, support is by email and their offer doesn't include on-site help. Leah, they've sent the equipment photo now; I'm asking the inspector to check that list against it.
Our pre-shipment demo also needed more than a photo of the fitted tool. Would this seller handle your housing during the visit, with agreed tooling, or is another empty cycle all they're offering?
Ravi, no local support arrangement yet. I've costed the independent inspection and the tooling separately now, and the gap to our other option is much smaller. David, the seller won't commit to a housing trial before payment. That's the part I can't get comfortable with.
We've passed on it. No payment made, collection cancelled before booking. I told the seller our reason was the combination of uncertain support and no agreed handling trial, not an allegation that the arm was faulty. Thanks, Chloe. I had started treating walking away as wasted effort.
