softer pads before we've agreed what a mark is

I have two polished bezels from our proposed UR5e tool comparison, one with a visible band and one that only shows it under the bench lamp; sales has already offered softer pads, though quality has not agreed whether either finish is acceptable or how we should compare the next samples.

Have you compared them with untouched bezels from the same supply, Gabriel? I wouldn't spend the next pad trial arguing about a band that was there before anyone gripped it.

Yes. The two retained untouched examples have no matching band under that lamp, but we have not agreed that lamp position as the appearance check.

Softer isn't a complete proposal. What contact shape are they keeping, and what exactly are they changing?

Mina, they might reasonably offer a pad sample before the whole comparison is settled. I wouldn't reject the offer, just avoid treating a nicer-looking bench result as the tool decision.

I'm not rejecting samples. I want them identified. We've had 'same but softer' arrive with a different contact profile and nobody mention it until the part sat differently.

The offer doesn't identify the material or profile. I've asked for both, alongside quality's appearance comparison; we also still need holding through transfer and release into the tray assessed.

Does the band follow the full contact length or just an edge? That is worth showing the tooling designer before the replacement is made.

And keep the current pair identified when the samples arrive, Gabriel; otherwise stores inherits two similar pads and the next changeover quietly undoes whichever comparison you eventually accept.
