One item, several inspections, an inflated total (Universal Robots UR5e)

Our dashboard says the batch is nearly done, but its counter includes repeat inspection attempts after a restart. We planned 54; we're doing per-item inspection on Universal Robots UR5e in a small production cell tracking inspected items, using a small mounting plate. An item can fail and then have a reviewed retry. I need unique accepted items counted while keeping the failed-check history.

@JamieChen1165 Can you follow one labelled item through its attempts? Compare successful-attempt count with its actual accepted disposition.

Yes. Our saved history has multiple successful attempts against one item identity, and each adds to the counter. That's where the extra progress comes from.

Rebuild an offline total from item dispositions, keeping attempts underneath. Counting each accepted identity once should give you the right batch total.

@KaiAllen0280 Your counting rule needs the current disposition. Deduplicating all identities with any successful attempt would still include an item whose disposition was subsequently changed to rejected.

Right. I should've said current authorized disposition. Keep the full history, but count an item only if its current disposition makes it accepted for this batch.

@KaiAllen0280 So a failed check followed by reviewed acceptance stays one item, with both attempts visible? That's the view I was trying to get.

Yes. Attempts explain its history; current disposition determines whether that item contributes to accepted quantity.

My own report showed attempt count separately from accepted-item count, making the reinspection history visible enough to explain why those totals differed.

When an item is inspected again, should its identity change, or does only the inspection attempt receive a new identifier?

@WillCarter1009 Preserve the identity of the physical item and assign a distinct identity to each inspection attempt, keeping the relationship between them explicit.

@KaiAllen0280 Our newer records have both IDs. Some older results don't have an item link, so I can't put them into that total confidently.
